Multimedia Piece Plan

 Multimedia Piece Plan.

The 1 minute multimedia production is an essential part of the course and planning for this piece is necessary. Planning includes shooting scripts and an animatic used to get a sense of what the overall product will look like and understand how it will be put together.

Shooting Script:

This shooting script allowed for a overall understanding of how long the video will last as well as the different shots needed to create the final product. Creating this shooting scrip has allowed for me to know the different shots I will need as well as what will happen in each shot. My multimedia piece relies on an unscripted element and so this shooting script allows for a scripted product to be created. Furthermore, the planning of the timings allows me to understand the length the final product and where I will need to cut down some shots and fit the time given. Overall, this shooting script has allowed me to understand the premise of the film and how it will be laid out.

Storyboard:

Storyboarding is one of the first stages to truly understanding the layout of the multimedia product. Whilst the shooting script gave a formal, script like structure, the storyboard allows for a more visual image to be created and looks more like the final product. Timing again plays a big role but is more crucial at this point as it allows for an understanding of how long the product will be but adds more detail into exactly what the shot will look like. Whilst the shooting script gave a brief outline as to how the product will be put together, the storyboard adds precise details and visual images to truly reflect the final product. Overall, this storyboard allows me to put together an animatic video and creates a true reflection of the final product.

Animatic:

After filming the main portion of the film, it was useful to use the sketched images from the storyboard to create an animatic version of the final product. This was a really good way of understanding the length and noticing the points that need to be cut down. Stationary shots like the examples of the short film produced will be cut down in order to fit the entire piece into a 1 minute time slot. Having the whole piece laid out is extremely useful in understanding what shots I still need to collect. Overall, having the final planning element done has allowed for a detailed look at what I still need to do in order to create the final product.

In conclusion, the planning stages for this multimedia product have proven to be extremely useful in understanding what is needed to create the final product for my multimedia piece. The shooting script gave me an insight into what types of shots are needed and how long they should last. The storyboard gave an initial visual representation of what the video would look like and the Animatic gave a detailed look at what the final product would look like.
